Ingredients (Serves 4–5)
For the Chicken:
- 8–10 chicken drumsticks
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
For the Sticky Garlic Soy Glaze:
- ½ cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
- ¼ cup honey or brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger (optional)
- ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch + 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)
Garnish:
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
Instructions
Prep the Chicken
- Pat drumsticks dry.
- Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Sear (Optional but Recommended)
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Brown drumsticks 2–3 minutes per side for extra flavor.
Slow Cook or Bake
Slow Cooker Method:
- Place drumsticks in slow cooker.
- Mix glaze ingredients (except cornstarch) and pour over chicken.
- Cook:
- LOW: 5–6 hours
- HIGH: 3–4 hours
Oven Method:
- Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 35–45 minutes.
- Brush with glaze during last 15 minutes.
Thicken the Sauce
- Remove chicken once cooked.
- Pour sauce into saucepan.
- Add cornstarch slurry and simmer until thick and glossy.
Finish
- Coat chicken in thickened glaze.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions.
