Easy Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf
This recipe makes about 6-8 servings and takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to prepare and bake.
You’ll Need:
1 ½ pounds lean ground beef
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped (about 1 cup)
- 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped (about 1 cup)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup plain breadcrumbs
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (check label for no added alcohol if concerned)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup shredded provolone cheese (or mozzarella, if preferred)
- Optional for topping: A little extra cheese, or a dollop of ketchup!
Let’s Make Some Magic!
Preheat & Prep: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Sauté the Goodies: In a skillet over medium heat, add a tiny bit of oil (or cooking spray) and sauté the chopped onion and green bell pepper until they’re nice and tender, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant. Let this mixture cool slightly.
- Mix It Up: In a large bowl, gently combine the ground beef, cooled onion and pepper mixture, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Don’t overmix – we want a tender meatloaf!
- Shape & Cheese: Press the meat mixture evenly into your prepared loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on the baking sheet. Sprinkle the shredded provolone cheese over the top.
- Bake to Perfection: Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly. If you want a little extra color on top, you can pop it under the broiler for 1-2 minutes at the very end, keeping a close eye on it!
- Rest & Serve: Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. This helps it hold its shape.
Serve with your favorite sides like mashed potatoes, a fresh salad, or steamed veggies. Enjoy this delicious and satisfying meal with your loved ones! Let us know if you give it a try!
