Italian Meatloaf with Mozzarella

1 ยฝ pounds ground beef

1 cup breadcrumbs

2 eggs

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon salt

ยฝ teaspoon black pepper

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

ยฝ cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 cup marinara sauce, plus extra for serving

2 tablespoons milk

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC)

In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, onion, garlic, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, Parmesan cheese, milk, and half the marinara sauce

Press half the meat mixture into a loaf shape on a baking sheet or pan

Add shredded mozzarella evenly in the center, then top with the remaining meat mixture, sealing the cheese inside

Spread the rest of the marinara sauce over the top

Bake for 50 to 60 minutes until fully cooked and the top is slightly browned

Let rest for 5 minutes, then slice

Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with extra warm marinara on the side
